Project Description
The Project is a 120 MW (gross) co-generation thermal power project based on bagasse and coal fuel. The Project is located at Sanawan, Tehsil Kot Addu, District Muzaffargarh in the province of Punjab. During the days of crushing season, bagasse as waste of sugarcane crushing is supplied by associated sugar production company and during the days of non-crushing season, coal is used as fuel.
The gross capacity of the Project is 118.8 MW based on Spreader Stoker technology which is proven for efficient burning of dual fuel biomass and coal. There are very few equipment suppliers globally who are specialist in this kind of technology owing to specialized techniques to incorporate either biomass or coal. Foster Wheeler of Spain was selected after detailed due diligence and competition for the supply of boilers. For the boiler combustion system, Detroit Stoker Company of USA has been selected for providing its special Rotograte System which is considered as one of the best in the world. For steam turbines, Siemens was selected for supply of two full condensing/extraction turbines for the Project. The complex is fully complying with relevant local environmental standards (NEQS) and World Bank environmental guidelines during operations phase.
It may be highlighted that FEL plant is one of the most efficient plant in its size and fuel combination which was achieved using world renowned companies like Foster Wheeler, Siemens, Detroit Stoker, CdF Ingenire etc.
